The Center for Mass Spectrometry and Optical Spectroscopy (CeMOS) at Hochschule Mannheim operates one of the leading Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) facilities in Germany. We are seeking a

CeMOS is a key partner in several large research consortia, most notably BMBF M2OLIE, DFG SFB 1389, BMBF SMART-CARE and BMBF M2Aind, but also collaborates with industry extensively on a national and international level.

 

The project work will involve:

  • Setup data mirroring methods for databases between CeMOS and project partners

  • Research and develop software tools for data analysis of cohorts of datasets to develop user-unbiased  scores to judge the quality and reliability of MSI datasets

  • Research cross-normalization strategies to mitigate high inter-measurement varianceImprovingImproving established MSI relational databases

  • Research solutions for data storage bottlenecks


Qualifications and background:

  • Must have:

    • M.Sc. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering or related fields

    • In-depth programming skills with R and/or Python

    • Strong background in image analysis, signal processing and/or pattern recognition

    • Driven by keen interest in computational research

    • Excellent English language proficiency (German language is of advantage)

    • Ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary, diverse and international team

    • Very good communication and organizational skills

  • Nice to have:

    • Ph.D. Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering or related fields

    • Knowledge of image fusion/registration methods

    • Expertise in C++ and/or experience with Mass Spectrometry data would be a plus

    • Publication record in the field
